The Traffilog Vehicle Diagnostics solution utilizes information collected from the vehicle’s on-board computer – ECU / ECM / CAN bus. This data is used to offer four Safety and savings solutions:
These components are proven to deliver significant returns on investment as well as maintaining the reliability of running times by decreasing breakdowns and preventing vehicles from being unable to run services.
The exact information that is processed by our solution varies depending on the amount of information that is available from the vehicle. The data available depends on the manufacturer, model, age and country of manufacture. However, the majority of vehicles that were manufactured from Euro 3 and onward will have the information required to utilize our “Red Light Events”. Features such as live diagnostics, fault codes and fuel reports should be available from Euro 4 and onward.
Our vehicle diagnostic solutions are proven to be market leading and we are confident with more operators discovering the improvements in cost and service they will become an expected part of all new vehicles.
our solution detects a fault on-board a vehicle and sends back a real-time notification to the relevant individuals in your organisation. These notifications are easily created / amended and can be sent via email, SMS or audible alarm or any combination / multiples of these. These immediate notifications allow clients to react faster and better informed.
An example remote warning benefits is preventative maintenance – fixing issues before the vehicle leaves the depot thus preventing breakdowns.
Remote warnings are created firstly by us creating an event that is loaded into the unit within the vehicle. These events can be created to combine any required parameters to ensure that they are only generated when very specific conditions occur.
The events that are loaded into the in-vehicle unit can be changed remotely at any time. This means that if customers have specific vehicle issues we can build events to ensure we give early notifications to prevent them.
Here are some examples of default events loaded to our units:
- Battery voltage less than X
- Battery voltage above X
- Air pressure is less than X *
- Engine coolant temp above X *
- Engine oil temp above X *
- Brake lining below X *
* Not all vehicles will be able to provide all of these fields
It is easy to see where savings can be made through fixing vehicles issues while they are at the depot, and while some issues are at first stages where low cost repairs can be made, rather than finding out about them when the vehicle is in service.
Live diagnostics are tools needed for engineers or traffic office controllers to make decisions on how to react to a driver saying there is an issue with a vehicle that is in service. These can be clear-cut issues like a red oil lamp or more unclear issues like amber warnings or strange sounds or smells. By remotely being able to see diagnostic information (oil temperatures, coolant temperatures, RPM, etc.) Engineers\ users can in many situations prevent vehicles being brought back to a service center without faults, vehicles being driven with faults or engineer’s / tow trucks going to vehicles with incorrect information on the actual fault.
The Traffilog solution supports live diagnostics via the real time diagnostic report. When a user selects this report, the system automatically sends a message to the vehicle which instructs the telematics unit to continually stream CAN bus data from the vehicle.
REAL TIME DIAGNOSTIC GAUGE REPORT
With the Traffilog system it is possible to view engine fault codes remotely without having to visit the vehicle.
Fault codes consist of an SPN, FMI and Source that needs to be translated to a component area, a component and a fault. the Traffilog system is able to translate these codes into text just as manufacturer’s diagnostics computer would do. For certain vehicles (ADL for example) we are even able to add manufacturer’s notes and recommendations to the events.
These codes are available within the Traffilog application using our “701 report”. This report can also be scheduled to be sent by automatic email to any required address for any vehicles and any time range (up to 1 month).
Using this report Daily can help engineers see problems that have occurred during the day before vehicles returned from service and can plan work accordingly.
These alerts are in the vast majority of cases provided before any serious faults or warning lights have been activated and allow engineers to fix issues before they would otherwise have known about them.
We have proven that by using this report to fix problems before they become critical organisations can reduce roadside breakdowns and lost miles by over 50%.
Traffilog is a world leader in reading and processing of CAN bus data across all makes and models of vehicles. Within the vast majority of vehicles, we are able to read a parameter giving the hundredths of a litre of fuel that have been injected into the engine since the vehicle was manufactured.
Fuel reports show the following information:
- DESCRIPTION – Licence plate / Vehicle Registration.
- Count – Total number of journeys (from Ignition On to Ignition Off).
- Drive Time – Total time with engine running.
- Mileage – Total distance travelled.
- Idle Time – The total amount of unnecessary
- Fuel Used – This is the total amount of fuel used by the vehicle.
- Avg Speed – This is the average speed of the vehicle.
- Licence Number – Licence plate / Vehicle Registration.
- MPG/KPL – Miles per Gallon or Kilometre per Litre (depending on region / customer requirement).
users can also choose to provide the information in a daily/weekly/monthly format.
By combining the most accurate driver identification with the most accurate per journey fuel monitoring we provide the most accurate driver MPG’s\KPL’s possible.
All reports can be easily exported to Excel or can even be scheduled to be automatically emailed whenever and wherever required.
